The 12th-ranked Hope College men's hockey team heads into the Thanksgiving holiday with a 15-4 overall record after skating past Indiana Tech and splitting a GL6 series with Davenport University.
On Friday, the Flying Dutchmen defeated Indiana Tech, 4-1, at Mount Clemens Ice Arena in Mount Clemens, Michigan.
Hope then beat Davenport, 7-4, on home ice on Saturday at Griff's IceHouse West, then lost the rematch, 6-2, on Tuesday at Patterson Ice Arena in Grand Rapids. The Flying Dutchmen are now 5-3 in GL6 play.
Against Indiana Tech, sophomore left wing
Cade Pratt (Byron Center, Michigan / Byron Center / Mercer Chiefs NCDC) scored twice, including once during a three-goal third period that snapped a 1-1 tie.
Freshman right wing
Gerdas Paulauskas (Lisle, Illinois / Acellus Academy / Toledo Cherokee UHPHL Premier) netted the game-winner 7 minutes, 21 seconds into the third period.
Sophomore goalie
Sebastian Wigfield (Blue Hill, Maine / Saint Ignatius College Prep / Battle Creek Kernels / USPHL Preimer) made 36 saves.
On Saturday, sophomore center
Ryan Jaros (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central / Battle Creek Kernels / USPHL Premier) finished with a hat trick, including two goals during a high-scoring first period between the two teams. Hope and Davenport combined for eight goals during the opening 20 minutes as the Flying Dutchmen held onto a 5-3 ead.
Paulauskas chipped in two goals, Jaros four assists.
On Tuesday, Davenport grabbed a 3-1 lead during the first period after senior center
Jake Onstott (Zeeland, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central / Shreveport Mudbugs NAHL) opened the scoring at the 5:07 mark.
Hope returns to action on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 5-6, at the Grand Rapids Showcase at Eagles Ice Arena.
