The Hope College men's cross country team took on various top teams in the nation at the John Nichols Invitational on Saturday hosted by Indiana State University.
The No. 1 ranked University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse took home first place at the meet in Terre Haute, Indiana; Wartburg University, ranked second nationally, finished second; and North Central Illinois took third. Hope finished 14th in the field of 27 teams in the men's open.
Junior Ian Petruska (Fort Collins, Colorado / Fort Collins HS) ran a 67th-place time of 25 minute, 30 seconds to claim Hope's top spot in the field of 466 runners.
Junior Carston Cole (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa) clocked a time of 25:40.
Freshman Logan Begeman (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central) finished at 25:52.
Senior Dan Campbell (Brighton, Michigan / Brighton) crossed the line at 26:19.
Freshman Cooper Jacobsen (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Eastern) recorded a time of 26:22.
Freshman Elias Kretchmar (Granville, Ohio / Granville) finished at 26:31.
Senior Tyler King (Villa Park, Illinois / Willowbrook) ran a 26:39.
