Men's Cross Country Runs to 10th-Place Finish at Inter-Regional Invitational

The Hope College men's cross country team finished 10th in a competitive 40-team field at the Augustana University Inter-Regional Invitational on Saturday in Rock Island, Illinois.

The Flying Dutchmen totaled 333 points in a 436-runner field that included eight nationally-ranked teams.

Senior Connor Vachon (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison HS) topped Hope by posting a 29th-place, 8K time of 24 minutes, 55.6 seconds.

Junior Ian Petruska (Fort Collins, Michigan / Fort Collins) finished 41st at 25:11.5.

Freshman Logan Begeman (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central) placed 81st at 25:39.2

Sophomore Carston Cole (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa) recorded a 109th-place effort of 25:52.9.

Freshman Elias Kretchmar (Grandville, Ohio / Granville) took 114th at 25:54.6.

Senior Tyler King (Villa Park, Illinois / Willowbrook) clocked a 139th-place run of 26:10.6.

Freshman Cooper Jacobsen (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Eastern) finished 152nd at 26:15.2.

Senior Lucas Guidone (Chicago, Illinois / Taft) took 20th at 26:43.1.

Junior Chad Perrine (Jackson, Michigan / Jackson) was 210th at 26:45.5.

No. 2-ranked Wartburg College (Iowa) won the meet with 41 points.

Hope's next meet is the MIAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2, hosted by Calvin University at the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids.

The meet starts at 11 a.m. and will feature women's and men's races.
