Men's Cross Country Finishes Third at 13-Team Invite in Muskegon

The Hope College men's cross country team raced to a third-place finish at the 13-team Muskegon Community College Invitational Saturday.

Led by senior Jonathan Harlow, the Flying Dutchmen totaled 90 points at the event to trail only Lansing Community College (34) and Aquinas College (69). The race featured runners from NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA, and the NJCAA.

Harlow (Holland, Michigan / Home School) posted a fifth-place 8K run of 25 minutes, 44.43 seconds at University Golf Course in Muskegon.

Grand Valley State University sophomore Kyler Dean took first out of 184 entrants in 24:51.2.

Freshman Max Lewis (Barrington, Illinois / Barrington) finished 16th for the Flying Dutchmen by clocking a run of 26:05.64.

Junior Tristan Ashley (Holland, Michigan / Saugatuck) placed 24th at 26:15.8.

Sophomore Shane Pitcher (Saline, Michigan / Saline) recorded a 31st-place run of 26:30.39.

Freshman Joe Waalkes (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) closed Hope's scoring with a 38th-place effort of 26:39.18.

Six more Flying Dutchmen finished in the top half of the field.

Senior Ryan Allspach (Glen Ellyn, Illinois / Glenbard South) took 43rd at 26:51.16.

Junior Andrew Tilly (Lemont, Illinois / Lemont Township) placed 45th at 26:55.14.

Freshman Kenny Evans (Corunna, Michigan / Corunna) posted a 47th-place effort of 26:58.71.

Freshman Nicholas Guidone (Chicago, Illinois / Home School) recorded a 61st-place run of 27:14.5.

Freshman Noah Norris (Ann Arbor, Michigan / Washington Academy) finished 63rd at 27:14.90.

Sophomore Jack Leyden (Plymouth, Michigan / Salen) took 70th at 27:25.41.

Hope's next race is Saturday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. Central at the Augustana University (Illinois) Inter-Regional Invitational.
