Men's Lacrosse Topped by Oberlin in Detroit

Senior Colin Stecco and junior Michael Mann scored two goals apiece for the Hope College men's lacrosse team during a 15-6 loss to Oberlin College on Wednesday at the University of Detroit.

The Flying Dutchmen's two-game winning streak was snapped by the non-league defeat. Hope is now 2-2 on the season.

Oberlin (3-1) scored the game's first three goals in a span of j10 minutes and jumped out a 4-1 first-quarter lead.

Hope did not get on the scoreboard until junior Jack Cervantes (Canton, Michigan / Canton HS) struck with 47 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

The two traded two goals apiece during the second quarter, but Oberlin outscored the Flying Dutchmen, 9-3 during the second half.

Ryan Blasberg topped Oberlin with six goals. Teammate Max Cha also totaled six points with two goals and a match-high four assists.

Mann (Plymouth, Michigan / University of Detroit Jesuit) scored once during the second quarter and once during the third.

Stecoo (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) scored in both the third and fourth periods.

Hope's next game is Saturday, March 11, at 2 p.m. against Benedictine University (Ill.) at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
