The Hope College women's tennis team earmed a dominating win over Alma College on Wednesday for their second consecutive MIAA victory of the season.Â
The 9-0 win over the Scots at the DeWitt Tennis Center improved them to 7-5, overall and 2-0 in MIAA league play.
A sweep of doubles and singles play powered the Flying Dutch to victory. Alma was unable to get more than three points in a match against Hope.Â
Freshman Amanda Lopykinski (Lemont, Illinois / Lemont Township HS) did not allow a single point during her No. 1 singles match, defeating her opponent with scores of 6-0 and 6-0.Â
Sophomore Sullivan Moran (Birmingham, Michigan / Wylie E. Groves) earned the win at No. 2 singles, 6-1 and 6-0.Â
Junior Annika Weeber (Rockford, Michigan /Grand Rapids Christian)Â topped her Alma opponent 6-2 and 6-0 at the No. 3 singles slot.Â
Sophomore Miyako Coffey (Cedar Rapids, Iowa / Xavier) won in two sets, 6-1 and 6-0, against Alma.Â
Freshman Hope Rhoades (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) earned the win in the No. 5 singles spot with two 6-1 set wins.Â
Senior Taylor Truman (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville)Â took down her opponent at No. 6 singles in two sets, 6-0 and 6-1.Â
All three doubles pairings collected wins.Â
Lopykinski and Moran paired together at No. 1 singles for an 8-2 win.Â
Coffey and Truman teamed up to earn the No. 2 doubles win, 8-3.Â
Junior Delanie Riebschleger (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford) and Weeber took home the final doubles win, 8-1, at the No. 3 spot.Â
Hope travels to Saint Mary's College (IN) on Friday, March 31, for a 4 p.m. league matchup.Â
