Women's Tennis Splits Weekend Matches in Ohio

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Hope College women's tennis team split a pair of non-league matches in Ohio over the weekend.

On Friday, the Flying Dutch recorded an 8-1 victory at Ohio Northern University.

On Saturday, Hope lost at Oberlin College (Ohio) by a 6-3 margin. The Flying Dutch (1-2 overall) earned all three points by Oberlin forfeits at No. 3 doubles, No. 5 singles and No. 6 singles.

Against Ohio Northern, the Flying Dutch swept all three doubles matches and took five of six singles flights.

At No. 1 singles, freshman Amanda Lopykinski (Lemont, Illinois / Lemont Township HS) topped Abby Cruser, 6-0, 6-1.

At No. 2 singles, sophomore Sullivan Moran (Birmingham, Michigan / Groves) outlasted Jamie Hurst for a 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 victory.

At No. 3 singles, junior Annika Weeber (Rockford, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) defeated Olivia Kesner, 6-0, 6-2.

At No. 4 singles, sophomore Miyako Coffey (Cedar Rapids, Iowa / St. Xavier) topped Regan Landis, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.

At No. 6 singles, sophomore Taylor Trojan (Homewood, Illinois / Marian Catholic) rallied to beat Julianne Sheldon, 3-6, 7-5, 10-4.

In doubles play, Lopykinski and Moran swept Hurst and Kesner, 8-0, at No. 1 flight.

At No. 2 doubles, Coffey and senior Taylor Truman (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville), recorded an 8-6 victory against Cruser and Jenna Bell.

At No. 3 doubles, Weeber teamed with freshman Hope Rhoades (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) to defeat Flo Sanchez and Regan Landis, 8-4.

Hope's next match is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25, at 5 p.m at the DeWitt Tennis Center against Lawrence Tech University.
