Leftfielder Ryan Konkle set the Hope College baseball single-season RBI record in a 12-0 win at Albion on Saturday.

The senior from Marshall, Michigan (Marshall HS) became the first Hope player to reach 50 RBI when he went 3-for-4 with four RBI and a home run in the opener of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheader.

Saturday's nine-inning finale was postponed due to rain with Hope leading 5-4 in the bottom of the third. Makeup details are to be determined.

Konkle, pictured, passed Kyle Blackport's previous record of 49 career RBI from 2002 with a run-scoring single in the sixth. He has 50 RBI on the season.

Konkle started Hope's third victory of the four-game series with a RBI double that opened the scoring the top of the first. He scored on a single from first baseman Landon Brower of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS).

Designated hitter Luke Brower of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS) capped Hope's four-run first with a two-run homer. It was his fourth home run of the season.

Konkle slugged a two-run homer to begin a six-run fourth. It was his team-leading sixth home run of the season.

Konkle, who is batting .491, now has 57 hits on the season. The school record of 58 belongs to Matt Sattler (2006).

With 15 doubles, Konkle also trails Sattler by just one for the school record.

Pitchers Austin Goodyke of Grandville, Michigan (Calvin Christian HS) and Connor Jackson combined on a two-hit shutout.

Goodyke (4-3) allowed two hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out three.

Hope's final regular-season series is next for the Flying Dutchmen. They play at MIAA-leading Adrian on Friday, May 6 and host the Bulldogs on Saturday, May 7.
