Box Score The 22nd-ranked Hope College women's tennis team swept an opponent for the fifth time this season on Tuesday with a 9-0 win against visiting Calvin.
The Flying Dutch raised their overall record to 10-2 and improved to 2-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.
Hope is now 32-10 all-time against Calvin.
Senior Carli Capestany of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS), and sophomore Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS), upped their No. 1 doubles record to 12-2 this season while not dropping a point to the Knights (6-6, 1-1 MIAA).
Capestany also won in straight sets at No. 2 singles to move within one victory of becoming the 13th Flying Dutch player to reach the 50-win career milestone in singles play.
Junior Anna Garcia of Battle Creek, Michigan (Lakeview HS), did not lose a point at No. 3 singles as well.
Hope returns to action this weekend at the two-day Midwest Invitational that begins Friday in Madison, Wisconsin.
